Hi All,

have been unable to access the site for months.Hope everyone is Hail and Hearty.  Is anyone breaking a Vel ? Unfortunately my tyre sensor receiver was torn off and lost. Does anyone have one along with the wiring loom and socket/plug? My radio is not working (crackling noise only) I've been advised that the problem is the radio amp,not the one under the rear seat but there's one on the ariel lead within the roof lining.  i've put out a search request through various breaker sites, but any help from you would be most appreciated.

Many thanks in advance from Brian in sunny St.Andrews.

Cool

Brian like you I have found the site unavailable for a long time. It may well be that few will return to look at it, so your plea may go unanswered!

There are a couple of Vel's being broken on eBay in the UK, but I presume you may have already seen them. There is also an amplifier available from Lithuania for under £30 if you wanted to take a punt. The vendor has lots of Renault bits and is obviously a breaker.

Is it possible that both the parts you need could be sourced from a Laguna? There are many more of them available, and it may be that these parts are common to both cars, but you would need a Renault expert to tell you that.

I have also lost my MW/LW radio for some reason, leaving just the FM working, but I think that is something wrong with the unit under the seat, as I take it that the aerial is the same for all the radio frequencies and if the aerial was faulty I would expect to have lost all radio channels.

Regards, dpress

Thanks Dpress,

the two sites that I've dealt with in Lithuania don't any of the parts nor my Polish site. The J&C french site have them except the radio amp which is out of stock and no longer made. This site appears to be an approved Renault supplier with prices slightly less than Renault GB

I've put requests out via the breaker's search site and individual one advertising Vels so here's hoping. I'll check with my ex Renault RTE mechanic about Lagunas if I have no joy with the Vels.

Regarding your radio amp you can have my spare for the cost of postage if you wish?

Let me know,

Brian from a very sunny and hot St.Andrews  Cool

Brian that is a very generous offer. I would love to try another amp to check if it is actually that which has gone wrong rather than the aerial, but they seem to be a bit thin on the ground for some reason…..

When I took mine out to check the model number was 22DC269/62, with a part number of 8200 063 350 B. Most of the ones I have seen for sale on eBay are marked part number 8200 205 833, and I have not bought one not wanting to waste my money on something that doesn't work! I am presuming there is a difference depending on whether satnav is fitted, which my Initiale has of course.

The eBay auction for an aerial amplifier I have seen is number 262963401621 if that is of any use to you? It is secondhand of course.

Perhaps you could email me direct at dpress60(at)outlook(dot)com and I can let you have my address details and arrange to let you have some money?

Many thanks, dpress

Yes I saw that. Seeing as my car was in for service/Mot, gearbox oil change and a new headlamp washer pump (total bill £525) today, I think that radio unit can stay in Lithuania….

I had the same problem with the satnav disc reader – only by trying another unit could I confirm it was the disc reader that was kaput. Thankfully they are much more common and I was able to pick one up from a Laguna for a few pounds. I find satnav rather more useful than the radio – but do miss being able to listen to the cricket on R4 LW !!

I sent you an e-mail about the Amp. Did you receive it? The offer still stands. If it works and I've no reason to doubt it then you can add the price of a bottle of wine to the postage.

Brian

Got mine oil & filter changed and the radio amp checked along with a rettle from the rear end. csot £80.00

Brian apologies – Outlook had put your message in the junk (cheek of it….). I have repied via email to you.

Many thanks, Steve
