Hi, I'm a new member with a 2002 2.2 dCi Expression. I am trying to find out if manual cars were ever recalled due to the clutch pedal staying on the floor some times after a gear change. One very good ex Renault RTE mechanic says some were fitted with a modification but when I spoke to my dealer I was told there were no outstanding problems with my particular car. I then contacted Renault UK and asked the question ' have any Vel Satis been recalled for the clutch pedal staying on the floor ?' and their reply was exactly the same as my local dealer. However, they did tell me they would ask my local dealer to inspect the car, oh I forgot, I would have pay the charge!  When I asked how would they know what to look for if everyone tells me there's no problem with my car the guy didn't know what to say. Apart from that the car is great.

Hi, glad to hear you're happy with your Vel Satis other than the clutch issue.  I know that this also happens with the clutch in the Laguna dCi, but a recall was never issued.  Most mechanics know of the issue and have a quick fix, I'm also sure that Renault may have a repair kit that can be bought from dealers – they do this with most mistakes they make!

Being a new member, if you want to see your Vel Satis in the next edition of the register, please email the details of your car to luke@vel-satis.org.  Thanks!

Happened occasionally on ours, usually at slow speed when the foot brake was applied. It felt as if applying the brake caused the clutch pedal to fall away under my foot. I became adept at hooking my foot under the pedal. I always thought it was a slave cylinder leak or something. It was only occasional so it was the least of our problems!

Hi, I asked the guy at Renault UK to tell me if there was a kit that I could buy, but he just said there was no problem with my car!  If there has been a problem with supplied parts, they make sure the next batch gets over the problem and  only the vin numbers with the dodgy bits are recalled, not all cars. Also asking the main dealer if there is a repair kit just gets a shrug of the shoulders. My ex Renault mechanic friend still says there was a problem.

I know that this reply is very late in regard to the thread date, however………..3 weeks ago, the clutch on our Vel 2.0t manual went to the floor and stayed there. Problem transpired to be a hydraulic hose from the clutch slave cylinder ruptured. I will post the part number here for reference in the next few days…..
