I'm also in the south west (Wales) and missed the last meet so would be a good opportunity for me also, I'd just need to be clear on dates so work can allow me to attend, Easter week is usually a bad time so either weekend before or after should be ok! :)

Just like to blow the cobwebs out for this thread,

Vel satis Owner for almost a year now and a meet seems to point towards the summer, July, August possibly?
As a 3.5 owner, somewhat 'alone' when it comes to parts/questions, All garages stock parts for all the diesel and 2.0T but never 3.5!

Let's get the Ideas going again!!

Hi Leigh,

Apologies I've not been able to organise a Spring meet but have been busy with family health and other ties and pulls. I offered some other members to take the lead in organising a spring meet but it never happened, so yes, I will be looking to organise one for July/August. Sorry to learn of your latest car news by the way, but am happy you're focusing on the Vel and hopefully other members can help you with 3.5 parts etc.

Hi Leigh (Olly and others Cool)

I have a 3.5…fire questions if you are stuck and if I can help I will (or we can find someone who could help).  I hope you love yours as much as I love mine Wink

Regarding a southern car meet – I offered but to be brutally honest it is not easy to find the time. I work and live in a boarding school (so have commitments every saturday with teaching/sport and most Sundays). Plus, I am married to a French girl from Perpignan and we lived in Toulouse for 10 years (our 'bricks and mortar' home is still there – I was with Airbus) and as such every chance we get we take off back down there so are not around in the holidays.

The bottom line is that I am unable to find a time when I could realistically organise/host something and I feel terrible for Olly at this point because we desperately need to get a southern meet going at some point. That said, the summer looks a better bet because I could delay my flight back for a few days and stay around to help out at an event.

Anyway, let us see what transpires. All the best for now,

Dave

Why don't we join in the event at Bewl Water, near Lamberhurst in Kent. The event is to mark the 60 years of the Renault Owners' Club. It is being held on the 21st and 22nd of July. If you were to contact Alisdair Worsley, I feel sure we could come to some arraangement. It would also show other Renault Owners that we still look after our VS's.Laugh

Living only 15 miles from Bewl Water (Lamberhurst) – I fully support the idea of "joining" the Renault event

My Vel Satis is also a 3.5 Initiale (what a great engine!). Having owned the car for 7 months, I have gradually become less "daunted" by its complexity regarding DIY maintenance and repairs! Friends and family always remark on the comfort, performance and the unbelievable value for money that these cars now represent.

Paul

Hi Pasco,

It's good to see that someone has read this page. As a member of the Renault Owners' Club, I will be there anyway whilst on my return journey from Interlaken. Having seen other members voicing that they wanted a meeting down south, I thought it a good idea. I do hope that I am not the only one to turn up in a VS. It would look very sad.

My 2ltr Auto Privilege is now all done and dusted ready for the ROC AGM in May at Gaydon. Since I got the car at the back end of November last year, I have had the car fully valeted in and out. New tyres all round as well as brake pads. The Renault dealer I use up at Memsie, near Fraserburgh has carried out most of the work as they are very careful with the car. Knowing full well that I will notice anything should it not be done right, but they are a friendly bunch up there any way and wouldn't rip anyone off anyway. So at this time with 32 thou on the clock it's as good as when it was supplied in 2003 by Wests in Cambridge.

Work covered has been the following:

Tracking on all wheels and balanced.

One oxygen sensor

Driver side headlamp unit.

All four tyres

Wiper blades all round.

All service items (filters etc plus spark plugs)

Full service carried out by myself.

Rear passenger window regulator

Refill of Air Con

So with the mileage reading 32 thou some would say that it wasn't due a full service, but I have always started each year doing just that. I work on the princable that if I look after the car, the car will look after me.

Well that's enough for tonight, but I do hope there are more members interested enough to post on this site and to come to Bewl Water.

Hi Bernard and Pasco,

Bernard – read the post but wanted to see who else would contribute to the possibilities of a meeting down south having shown my hand already. Bewl Water could be a great idea for other Vel owners to get together…lovely mileage on your car too and could not agree more about what you say with regard to looking after your car. Mine has full Renault service history and is still under warranty (although it costs). Nearing 62k now on mine and running like clockwork :)

Pasco – you are so right. The 3.5 is a wonderful engine! I adore mine…
