A meet in the Easter break?

It seems that I will be on the mainland for most of April and I was hoping that it could coincide conveniently with another Vel Satis meet.

The 11th June meet was such a great day, offered a brilliant chance to compare a few of these unique cars and to get to put faces to names.  Hopefully the weather will be more predictable than it was for the second meet, which didn't attract so many.

So… any interest, or suggestions for locations?  I'll be everywhere from St Andrews to Sussex (albeit in the Avantime, unless I get a Vel Satis before then!).

Looking at the register, we have more owners than site activity would suggest.  A big effort could make for a brilliant day out!

A wonderful idea, Luke. At least one 2012 owners meet was definitely always going to be on the cards anyway, and April sounds like a good date if enough show interest.

Location-wise, southern members in the home counties and along the south coast haven't been able to make the Midlands or North meets, so we should probably organise the meet for somewhere in Northants/Hertfordshire or further south.

Hopefully some owner members will latch on to this thread and make some suggestions.

A great idea! Especially when I read the suggestion of Sussex! Seriously though – a meet in the South or South East would be much appreciated. I have not yet seen any other Vel Satis in this part of the world. I have owned my 3.5 V6 Initiale since September 2011 and become a trifle `lonely` – especially when trying to obtain spares – the usual response being "never heard of that car" (the latest pantomime being sourcing an alternator – following the dreaded red `Stop` "battery charge fault" i.e. no alternator output). So I really look forward to meeting up with similar enthusiasts to share experiences.

Looks like a southern meet is on the cards then!

Pasco – you're certainly not the only one.  My aunt recently had the AA come out to hers and the model on the invoice was written as "Belle Statis".  Doesn't exactly inspire confidence!  Also.. is your car on the register?

An added advantage to a "southern meet" is our proximity to France! – surely our car`s "spiritual home"! I understand that Sandouville (where the cars were built) is nearer my home than Birmingham!

Yes, my car is on the register (no. 134) – only 2 slight corrections: she (named "Nessie", has a sun roof (now leak free!) and "lives" in Crowborough, East Sussex.  I am pleased to report that the new alternator arrived this morning – so as soon as the weather "improves", I will fit it (nasty job!) – but then most maintenance and repairs have delivered "challenges" to me!

OK you can count me in, but we dont have much time left to organise things. I would offer, but Aberdeen is just a bit too far away. The last meet was just a little too soon after getting the car at the end of November.

A place has come to mind called Bewl Water near Lamberhurst in Kent. Just an idea.Laugh

I am sure we could try and organise something down this way…I am based at Cranleigh (near to the Top Gear Studios at Dunsfold) and not too far from Guildford.  Anyone else interested?

Very happy for you to organise a meet for April in the south, Dave. I know your work often means you can't do weekends, but if you think you may be able to do a Saturday in April or the spring, then let's get something started. I know I organised the Staffordshire meet fully, but someone who knows the south better would be more suited and I've had a lot of family health issues which have slowed me down lately, so by all means start planning something, but just keep me informed and document it all via this site and I can send out a newsletter to all members once it's a bit more firmed up.

Hi Everyone,

As a new member in the South, it would be nice to meet up with some members. I purchased a V6 3.5L last May and have done a bit of work to it since then, so she would love to meet some of her brothers and sisters!
