Fit or do the following to the VS?

1 Offer a full panaramic sunroof,i find this strange,it would of suited it much better than the sunroof option which i think looks very aftermarket(sorry)

2 fit handsfree, this again is bizarre,it wasn,t even fitted to later cars,i recently saw a 55 plate and it had the optic sensor covers behind the outer handles but it wasn,t handsfree.

3 A heated front screen wasn,t fitted,Safrane,Laguna,Avantime did have them?

4 The cabbase unit is nice but the speakers are terrible, proper adjustment still results in the speakers distorting at a low volume, read this before.

5 Strange one but the interior floor lights have no covers on them, just open lights,i find this strange.

Any others?

I looked for the floor light covers for weeks.

The front screen is a special glass. That may be why no heating element in it.

Autoglass told me that front screen was crazy money.

Funny thing is that Cabasse make very high quality Hi Fi domestic speakers.

I have seen the exposed floor lights on several 'exec' cars. No doubt an example of accountants calculating how to save miniscule amounts of money, thinking no-one will notice. I wonder how much plastic light covers cost, when manufactured by the million? Confused

As for missing spec., I would like to have seen keyless entry & start, air conditioned seats, head-up display, heated steering wheel, auto fold-in mirrors (when locking) and an improved ICE with Bluetooth. The navigation is pretty ordinary, too, although there wasn't anything significantly better available at the time. A six-speed gearbox would have been nice, though.

One annoyance for me is the navigation screen message, which appears every time the car is started. Can this be de-programmed, so that the main menu is displayed upon starting?

Hello guys,

Don't forget, the velsatis were designed early in the 2000th. At this time many velsatis origin equipment were not available on many other vehicles, even in option.
Since phase II (after 2005 may) new equipment are supplied as:
keyless entry & start (Keyless entry only for Phase I)
Bluetooth
GPS navigation 3D
six-speed gearbox ( manual and auto)
Front radar for parking
and many other…

Remember, we are driving old cars…..with a plethora of equipment

Of course, I appreciate that some equipment only appeared later, which is why I mentioned the satellite navigation quality. However, all the other equipment was available at that time. Keyless entry and start, heated steering wheel and air conditioned seats were already on the Mercedes CL by that time. Auto fold in mirrors were not uncommon on a variety of cars. The six speed auto gearbox (ZF) was introduced in 2001 by BMW, on the 7 series and basic HUDs were being used by GM in the late 1980s, so it was all possible.

Don't forget, everyone, these are Renaults – don't expect a lot and you won't be disappointed. Cool

I agree they look special and use some interesting materials but in comparison to contemporary cars of the day they are woeful in some ways and very basically engineered. But I agree that they are likeable.

Thing is Brad.  If there was another car like it, that was cheap, rust free, quick, different, and spacious I might have one.Laugh

Chrysler 300C
Avantime
Citroen C6
Rodius

all come to mind

I only bought my VS due to liking the shape and the height for me was useful being so very tall. If they had been made by Kia or Zil I'd still have bought one, I reckon. It's always been useful having a spare car, though, throughout all my years of Renault ownership, no matter what the model.
