Merry Christmas to you too! Are you on Facebook? I don't use this, seems the Vel Satis community is very very small these days. Well, it's almost non existent unfortunately

Hi Brian,

On the crest of a wave, my VS passed its MOT this morning!

Upgrading the headlights from pee-holes in the snow to 'WOW I can see' is involved but straightforward, I've done it on both my cars, and the result is really worthwhile I think.

   Hardest part is braving it!

My car has xenons, so if your car does too this is what I've done. I use Osram Xenarc D2S Nightbreakers for dips, standard H9  for mains. The dips transform driving, the mains are adequate, but there seems to be nothing decent to upgrades our mains. I tried Osram Cool Blue 75w, but they were poorer than standards. I suspect the matrix wiring in our cars limits the wattage available…..

If you can tolerate the woman shouting that the sidelights are faulty, then try the Osram LED W5W side bulbs, crisp white light, much more visible than the glow-worms…..Can be done same time as headlights.

If you cannot find the necessary post I can happily help.

   Best,    Paul.

I'd be definitely up for a meet up as well as Ray from Sheffield. My Vel Satis flew through its MOT in September with no advisories! As for LED sidelights the electronics run on a CAN-BUS system, it will flag up the ping on the faults system, you need CAB-BUS free bulbs, I have LED reg bulbs in mine, they transform the rear look, i'd definitely recommend them.

As for Xenons, mine seem ok although i'd like to see how good I could get them with other bulbs although xenon is expensive! I have classic french style yellow high beams in mine to add to the french character.

Feel free to join the Renault Vel Satis Owners Club UK Facebook club, they're supposedly closing this site on the 31st so it would be nice to keep in touch with everyone. After all, it seems the Vel Satis is gaining more attention now as it gets close to 20 years old! I'd love to organise a meet with everyone to speak about our experiences and love for Vel Satis.

Happy New Year to you too! WinkSmile
