Scale models of the Vel Satis

My name is Sean,

I love quirky french and italian cars, Citroens, Renaults & Fiats mainly. I bought a large 1:10 scale (I believe) model of the Vel Satis, at the Paris motorshow in the early 2000s, probably when the car was launched. It has no interior detail as the glass is painted grey and the model is solid, but it is a highly accurate model, probably about 400mm long or so. It looks very much like one of those car designer styling models and it is mint in box. It was purchased direct from renault at the motor show stand and has no model manufacturers details. If I recall it has an authentication certificate. It looks pretty stunning in grey metallic paint.

Just wondered if anyone else has seen one of these before and whether they know much about them. I cant see anything at all about them on Google.

I will try to upload some photographs soon.

Sean, I have seen a number of models for sale on eBay over the years. Most are the 1:43 scale Norev make, but there was an all chrome/silver one recently that was up for silly money – £250 or something like that recently (about what my real car is worth….).

I wonder if you have got one of the Norev 1:12 scale resin design models? I found an advert for one in Poland on the internet which matches the description you give – silver colour but blacked out windows, and on a plinth with certificate. The auction is not current but I attach a copy of the link (hope it works!)

Regards, Steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your reply. Yes thats exactly what it is! 1:12 scale Norev. Its only ever been out of the box once and is currently stored away with lots of other models from that era, so its been difficult to access.

You are right tho. Would be interesting to know how much these are worth as I have never seen anything comparable before! There are loads of smaller scale Vel Satis models around.

Thanks again for your help.
