Hi
Guys
Just joined the forum,I'm now on the lookout for my second vel satis.
At the moment I work at a Renault main dealer,in warranty admin.
Been a Renault tech/R.T.E for 25 years.
Did the factory training for Vel Satis amongst other Renaults.
Strange as it sounds I love these cars and don't have to many bad things to say about them.
While these cars were in the main dealers we had very few problems and nearly all are known faults.
Anything I can help with just ask,I have access to the Renault clip and dialogys and all the repair manuals.
(Sorry I'm unable to repair them now,but my brain still works)
Cheers
Paul

Can I be the first to ask for help?

2003 Espace with 3.0DCi & Autobox.

I want to change the ATF in the auto box but there is bog all information on how to do so except to ask my main dealer! I have looked at other makes which use the same engine/gearbox as fitted to the Vel Satis and others have a dip-stick that is used for refilling but the Renault does not.

How can I drain and refill? What's the trick?

Thanks

There is a dip stick, as per photo.

You may have more room to get to it on an Espace? Almost impossible to see from the top, and getting a funnel to it will be fun.

This is around where it is on the 3.5 , from the top with a tube about a foot long.

This shows the orange hose dropping in to filler hole where dpress pic is.

The filler plug has a bolt on it.  It is for security to stop passers by giving your Vel a quick ATF change while you go in for the papers LaughLaugh     Total pain to get in and out.

You put it back on so that the dip cannot be lifted out. If your Espace does not have this plug then I don't know. Do not open any other plugs or hex nut on box to put oil in……strictly forbidden!

Renault like to make things easy don't they?

I'm going to have fun with this one!

Thanks for the information. Very helpful indeed. I also have to remove the EGR but have found the SAAB WIS to have the correct information albeit a different shaped inlet manifold.

I'm with Tesco Car insurance – they were cheapest by far for me – I pay a bit less than you for a 3.0 DCI Initiale BUT I have no NCB (been abroad for ages) so imagine they'd be quite a bit cheaper for you.

Plus, they can throw in basic RAC coverage for an additional 28 quid a year.

Hi:

My name is Sola from Nigeria. I am new to this forum. I run an auto repair shop and a Renaut Vel Satis 2002 model was brought /towed in for repairs. On trying to start the vehicle we encountered language barrier – we speak English while the car speaks something like Dutch.

Any help on what to do to change the car language to English?

Thanks.
