Is this operated via a relay as well as the fuse? Could anyone help with advice as mine is dead as a dodo. No power is reaching the switch at all.

Thanks.

Brad I do not have any personal knowledge of the electronic hand brake, or the myriad of faults and issues that can arise, all of which seem to need the Clip computer to diagnose and clear.

If you have access to the Dialogys CD manual there is information on fuses in part 81C which shows just a 10A fuse in position F2 with no other relay control that I can see.

Chapter 84A page 10 shows the parking brake handle control itself and gives data on the resistances between contacts in the handle unit.

Under braking in chapter 37B, there are 115 pages of fault finding (!) but I would start by reading p112 which states what tests should be carried out if the automatic handbrake cannot be manually released.

Could it be something simple connected to the driver's door switch – the brake will not release on auto cars if the door is 'open' (or the UCH thinks it is) so some of the fault finding talks about checking the various switches on the door to make sure they are not faulty. I would expect you to still have voltage to the multi-pin plug though even if this were the case?

If you don't have a disc I would happily supply you with a copy.

Regards, Steve

Thank you for your response.

I don't have a Dialogys CD so your offer to send a copy is gratefully appreciated. I will pay you for any costs.

I used to have the full set of Workshop manuals for the VS inc the Electrics etc. I foolishly sold these 3 years ago, thinking I would never have another VS. Maybe I should try and get hold of these, too.

Thank you, once again.

On a side note, this site seems almost inactive. Is there something I should know?

Brad can you email me at dpress60(at)outlook.com to pass your address and I will pop one in the post to you.

I think the site inactivity is purely down the relative tiny numbers of cars still being used. Some of the more regular contributors have sold up and moved onto other things, hence the lack of posts compared to a few years ago.

Thank you, Steve.

I was one of those Vel Satis owners who "moved on" to other things but who has now come back.

I have a passion I couldn't quell for these cars and hope to stay in the fold for a while. I know they aren't the best cars in the world and are riddled with issues but I always was attracted to an underdog.

Thanks for your kindness.
